I already have a website; why should I get a new or extra one?
If you already have a website but you'd like to have a Photo Director Pro™ cutting edge E-Commerce site, you have two choices:
- You can utilize some of the artistic and personalised attributes of your existing website in the personalised areas of a new Photo Director Pro™ cutting edge E-Commerce site - or
- Better still, keep your existing website and we'll organize (or you can) a new domain name similar to the one you now have and you can have the old site for artistic effect and the new Photo Director Pro™ cutting edge E-Commerce site with which to do business. As an example, if you've registered a domain named johnsmithphotography.com then you could have a new site called johnsmithphotography.net Normally you would direct customers to the new site from the old site.
The cleanest, quickest and cheapest way is to register a new domain for a new site and place links from your old site to the new site - we've found this to be the case from experience.

How much does it cost to rent my own website?
Our pricing structure to rent the use of your own website is simple and depends on the maximum number of images you have stored. You can have a new personalised E-Commerce website up and running for a $150.00 once only setup fee and then $50.00 per month from then on and you can stop at any time.

Why is this site separate from my own E-Commerce web site?
All images, databases and data relevant to photographers and their customers are based on this system - the Photo Director Pro™ server - in our data centre. Your own website, even though it accesses the data on this system will be on a different web server in our data centre.
The reasons are technical but suffice to say that it improves the security for you and your customers doing it this way.
Your customers will never see this website - they will only ever see your own personalised E-Commerce website that will display all your stored images.

What's different about the Photo Director Pro™ system when compared to popular sites such as Flickr and Ofoto?
Flickr, Ofoto and all the others are amateur sites for amateur photographers and they're not designed for you to conduct business online.
Photo Director Pro™ on the other hand, has been extensively designed JUST for professional photographers and encompasses all of the things pros need to manage, arrange, store and sell their work on line.

Do I retain copyright over my images?
Absolutely. They are your images and you don't upload originals to our system. We can add a copyright watermark to your images or you can when you're preparing images for uploading.
We have gone to considerable lengths to protect the images on this and your future website, but a clever person can get around ALL CURRENT systems available on the Internet. For that reason, we recommend a watermark which while unattractive, will prevent images from being used after printing.

I don't shoot digital so can I still use a Photo Director Pro™ website?
Our system relies on uploading jpg images. If you're shooting with film then this means that all images have to be scanned prior to uploading, so it's not practically viable.
If you already shoot digital we recommend setting your camera up to shoot one RAW and one small jpg per shot.

Do we have a money back guarantee?
Absolutely. If you order a website and within 30 days of commissioning you decide not to continue, we'll give you back all fees charged including setup costs, except for any payments made to register a domain - if you have requested this.

What do we mean calling Photo Director Pro™ a 'Hosted System'?
A hosted system is part of the new wave in computer software solutions. Sometimes known as SAAS (Software As A service) it means you rent and not buy, which does away with large capital outlays, frequent upgrades and incompatibilities. The system is totally web accessed and secured using IBM and Sun's J2EE security system.

Can I bulk upload images to this website?
No. Because the Photo Director Pro™ system catalogues your images in a large database they have to be uploaded and processed by our system individually. In order for customers to sort, find, store and prioritize images on your website, the system must be controlled by a database where every image is identified and stored. We find that this doesn't take long and can be carried out by a junior or teenager. Photographers with good ADSL or cable Internet bandwidth find that they can upload the contents of well prepared jpgs from a filled 4GB CF Card in about 20-30 minutes.

How long are my images left on my website for re-ordering?
As long as you are still subscribing to the system, your images are left on the system to enable re-orders by your clients for one year from loading - unless you choose to remove them earlier. It's totally up to you.
